The meeting of the General Assembly of the Arab Satellite Communications Organization (ARABSAT) was held on Thursday 13 April 2017 in Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman, amidst the large representation and presence of the Chief Ministers and Heads of Arab delegations participating in the session.
The Libyan delegation, headed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Holding Company (LPTIC), Dr. Faisal Gergab participated in the activities of this important meeting. During the meeting, the Board’s annual report for 2016 was presented to the Organisation in addition to the discussion of a number of other plans and programmes that aim to drive the business process of the Organisation and strengthen cooperation amongst its members.
The Arab Satellite Communications Organization (ARABSAT), established in 1976, is one of the institutions of the League of Arab States. Its members are 21 member countries. The Libyan state holds 11.28% of the total shares of the shareholders. Libya is the third largest partner amongst other Member States.
